This complexity is balanced by white cherry, red currant and dried herb aromas, with an intense and mouth watering palate with cherries at the forefront.

2017 Pinot Noir, James Halliday, 95 pts

Hand-picked over 18 days, a minute crop at 1.21t/ha, matured in French oak (20% new). It’s a seductive wine with perfumed red fruit in a juicy framework that precludes any question whether it’s dry (it is), the gauze of superfine tannins the final deal.

Bright crimson-purple; fragrant and flowery aromas, with a soupcon of spice, are the signposts for a bright, lively and long palate that opens with bright red cherry/berry fruits, then veers towards a more savoury palate with a breezy finish.”

Gently smoked and spiced, slightly minty perfume, cherry and strawberry, some sweet nougat oak in support. Light to medium bodied, fine boned and cleanly etched with pure minerally acidity, a soft rub of pumice stone tannin, crisp raspberry and blackcurrant flavour, and a long clean finish. It’s beautifully done.”
