2017 Willow Creek Vineyard Chardonnay

MEMBER: $36.00 Save UP TO 20% by joining Wine Club

The product of a precious, tiny vintage where colder weather impacted fruit set and ripening, our 2017 Chardonnay features lifted aromas of lemon meringue which mingles pleasingly with toasty hazelnut meal and a delicate hint of white peach blossom.

On the palate, a distinct creaminess complements the fresh, citrus-tinged acidity. Rich citrus and toasted nut meal mirror the nose, on a concentrated and opulent palate. A richly flavoured release, with satisfying length and power.

“When people ask me, and many do, for a Chardonnay that’s fuller flavoured, and perhaps more ‘traditional’, I often point them in the direction of the Mornington Peninsula. Nectarine, lime, oatmeal and almonds, with a little dusting of cinnamon. Medium-bodied, a nutty and creamy glycerol feel, but shot through with fine limey acidity (and flavour), it has impact, but fairly glides, and finishes with a pleasant pulpy grapefruit bitterness and flinty crunch. Here be flavour and finesse. It’s a thoroughly lovely wine.”
